Firedos Fire Fighting Cannons

More Power to your Elbow: The new ‘Oval Flat Design’

The FireDos monitors are a new generation of monitors, not just by their appearance. And their special look has got a particular purpose:

The elbows in their distinctive octagonal ‘Oval Flat Design’ are the result of a sophisticated, flow-optimised interior.

The special shaping ensures a homogenous flow pattern with low turbulence and reduces the pressure loss to a minimum. This way, the water jet reaches a maximum range.

A comparatively low pressure is already enough to achieve the specified maximum flow rates. This saves pump power.

Product Concept

The elbows in their distinctive octagonal ‘Oval Flat Design’ are what makes our FireDos monitors so unique.

  • The elbows of the pivot mountings are absolutely flow-optimised thanks to their inner shape. This leads to minimised pressure loss, allowing the extinguishing agent jet to achieve maximum reach.
  • Designed as a universal monitor: The basic structure is the same for all applications, making the selection easy.
  • Type series for all extinguishing agent flow rates up to 40 000 l/min.
  • Nozzles and pipes for the discharge of water and foam.
  • Operation is done either manually or by electric drives.
  • Electric drives for direct, alternating or three-phase current.
  • ATEX versions for use in hazardous/explosive areas.
  • According to your individual specifications: High-performance remote control of monitors in stationary extinguishing systems.

Reach:

Both below graphs show the reach that Multi-Purpose Nozzles can achieve under the following conditions:

Advantages

  • Wide swivelling ranges:
360° horizontally (330° in versions with DC drives) and up to +-90º vertically
  • Both swivelling axes have self-locking worm gears (except the hand-lever version). This prevents the monitor from unintended adjustment by an external force effect.
  • The extinguishing agent flow rate can be adjusted also during operation and at full operating pressure. The type names of these nozzles start with an “A” for “Adjustable.”
  • Only low force is required
to swivel the monitor. The drives thus consume less power in the case of remote-controlled versions.
  • Sturdy and made-to-last:
The components under pressure have been designed to handle 64 bar (!). The bearings are lubricated for life; and even after long down-times, only little operating force is required due to the seals’ special coating.
  • For emergency operation,
even the electric versions have hand wheels and can therefore be operated manually if required.
  • High vertical stability
and thus less effort to fasten the monitor.
  • Only little space required
due to compact dimensions and especially low design height.
  • Also suitable for seawater:
The high-quality aluminium alloy is additionally hard-coated. The surface hardness of approx. 450 HV can withstand even abrasive extinguishing agent elements.
